I Can Wait

When on earth did it happen?

When did my first baby boy turn into a young man?
It seems like every time I look at Anderson he is growing and changing into the man he will someday be.
I remember my mom saying that she never understood mom's who "couldn't wait." They "couldn't wait" until their kids were walking. Then they "couldn't wait" for their kids to start school. And they "couldn't wait" for their kids to get out of the teen years. My mom said often that she enjoyed each year and every stage that her children went through. She told me that if I spend my motherhood "waiting" for the next stage all the good times will come and go without me ever experiencing the joy that comes with each of them.

I have enjoyed my kids. Now I will admit that there are times when I want to put them in a box and ship them to Timbuktu, but I love being a mother and I realize that motherhood comes with a price (the price being our patience, our sanity, our sleep, our time and our love.) We give it all and I think 18 years is just too dang short. I feel cheated already...that is not enough time.

Anderson played the role of a good son and let me take a bunch of photos of him while we were watching for trains with Branson. Did I mention that we will be purchasing him a razor on Monday...I am not ready for this.He doesn't like the smiling shots...not cool enough I guess. The next picture is Anderson's choice look. There were several other black and white shots that he liked and he seems to prefer the "overexposed look" I love that he cares.

Oh he's so cool! The hat, the jacket, the no-smile face...I bet he is a very popular guy.

But I have say, I think what makes him the coolest is letting his very dear Mom be his photographer. What a cool son!

It's weird when they cross that line, but if you keep enjoying it, keep living IN it, it actually goes on quite a while longer!

Plus, denying the inevitable is a great method... :)

And that DC Hat is Bling-Tastic!

Wow, you're right! When did he grow up so much? Great pictures though. Kids definitely grow up too fast--and mine's only two!

Love those! You do a great job. Helps to have such a handsome model.

Amy he reminds me so much of my son Tim. Tim is a wonderful young man who will turn 18 next month. Anderson is such a handsome guy. He has that same kind of "Tap Out fighter" look that Tim has in all his pictures.

I can also see that Anderson has a good heart~♥

Have a great week,
Robin~♥

Now did you mean a razor like that skateboard thing that is really hard to balance on...Not a real razor meant for trimming facial hair? I love Anderson and even if he is shaving peach fuzz he will always be that same sweet boy that I have always loved. I am sure of it.

I can't believe he is a "man." I will always think of Anderson as the little baby and toddler who said things like "dubbadees" and called people "shrunkus." It seems so wrong that he is so grown up. I loved what you wrote about enjoying each stage. It was a great reminder.

Sadly, with Donald and Heidi I was far too eager to get to each new stage. I'm sure that there were wiser and more experienced mothers who counseled me to enjoy every second. I just had a hard time listening to them I guess.
By the time I had my last three Kelly, Shawn and Courtney, I had finally realized how much I had missed. Each one of them we had decided, would be our last. That made all the difference for me. I took so much more time to savor every moment with them. Now I'm just happy that I had three more times to really enjoy my babies.
Anderson really is a good looking guy!

Sweeeeet pictures! It's so easy to get awesome pics of the little ones but its getting harder to get one that I love of my bigger ones! :) Razor??? What the? Austin says "lucky"! :) Scott barely needs a razor now so Im sure my boys will be taking a razor on their missions just for show! :)

You know what? During this post I realized, WOW. I can't believe how big he has gotten! I remember when I saw him for the first time at Aunt Heidi's house, when he was still brand new. I cannot BELIEVE how time has flown, and he's not even my kid. So crazy...

Great shots Amy J.! He is SO handsome. I know what you mean. My oldes will be entering Young Women's this year. I can't believe it. Your mom was a very wise woman!! I need to remember that advice a little more often.

BTW, I tagged you over on my blog. Hope you play along!
