Times

Walking into my boy's middle school yesterday I passed by several multiplication flashcards that were strewn across the cement. They made me smile and as I got to the door I remembered that I had my camera in my purse. I ran back to the cards and took photos of them, untouched, just as I saw them. I felt kind of silly but no one else was around and the empty school yard added to the way I was feeling about those cards. I can't believe the emotions that these photos bring out in me! Thoughts of the autumn season, kids going back to school, time flying by too quickly with my kids, someone elses kid is as disorganized as mine and losing stuff all the time...I even love the blur of blue paint on the cement from when they painted the panther paw prints on a nearby pole. I am not usually this deep and I think that is why this little experience almost feels like a treasure to me.

  1. I love it! What a beautifully taken picture! I love that you went back to your car to get your camera (and that you had your camera in the car). Sometimes I see things like that, where it's no big thing, but it means something special to me. Thanks for sharing!!

  2. That is a great picture! Nothing like catching the moment. I'm also jealous of the dead leaves. Yes, that's right. It's way too hot here and I need fall!

  5. As soon as I saw this photo, before I even read your comments about it, it brought out a lot of emotion in me too. As a fellow photographer, I totally understand finding beauty in the most simple, everyday things. I love love love this picture. I seriously want a print. I will pay you. I'm serious. I can even pay you to send me the file and I can print it out if you don't want to send it to me. (I won't mass distribute it, I promise)

  6. Wow, that is really cool. I would never have thought a flash card could be such a great photography subject, but it is awesome. You really have become quite the photographer.

  10. Amy, that's the difference between a great photographer and a mediocre one. Mediocre means trying to arrange a great shot. Great photographers see the shot waiting there to be discovered and know enough to recognize it when they see it.
