Monday: A Day at the Beach

Our first full day on Vancouver Island was spent at the beach in Parksville. Before heading to the Ocean waters the kids played in the water park and we bought ice cream cones...the first of many on our trip.
~~~I do believe these are Canadian Geese flying over the water.
~~~
The kids had a blast collecting treasures (both alive and dead) on the beach and in the tide pools. About 20 Sand Dollars and several shells and clams made their way back to the resort with us. Two days later an overwhelming stench permeated our bedroom area. Needless to say we tossed all the collectibles into the trash bin. Pee-You!
~~~
This particular beach is know for it's perfect castle building sand. And according to Branson the sand tastes almost as good as the ice cream.
~~~
What is it about the beach that posses all men to flex and show their muscles!?
~~~
Branson did enjoy the waves but he and I spent most of our time reading, relaxing, taking pictures and eating sand. The only downfall to the day...as the tide slowly came in everyone but me and Branson were out playing in the water. So five different times I had to haul all 4 of the bags, my precious camera, the stroller and Branson across tide pools and onto dry land. Day one was a complete success!
What a cute family.. Is the water pretty warm there or was it freezing?
Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog, I really appreciate it.. I am so glad we met in this blog world.
Depression runs in my gene line too. But they really tried to deny anything was wrong.
Oh goodnes....that picture of Branson's feet......so cute.
Sounds like a wonderful day. And what sweet memories for your children. Some of my favorite childhood memories are being at the beach. Perfection.
I love the beach because it requires creative play and exploring. The pictures are fantastic.
I'm curious, have you been there before or was the location recommended to you? How far was the drive? It really looks like the perfect spot for a family vacation.
Oh my gosh Amy. It looks like you had a private beach almost. No one was around. How awesome was that.
It looked warm and just fun for the whole family.
Your pictures are just getting better and better. Wonderful shots.
Thanks for sharing the day at the beach with us.
Thanks for the Great info... Dang Mormons are taking all the books & the author lives here in AZ so we should get the most... :)
I am starting to feel like your sister & can't wait for the day to be over to go get the book in the morning. I thought about going to Walmart at midnight & getting one. But then I wouldn't get any sleep at all, because I'd come home & start it.
Have fun at Barnes & Noble.
Your pictures are great! You are a pro at taking them..
Amy I am loving these vacation posts. My family went to Victoria when I was around 12 or 13 I think. I remember the beach. I remember there being some cute boys there that my sister Kathy and I were flirting with. ( Well, as well as two fairly sheltered young mormon girls can flirt, that is.) You know if you guys lived in Flintstone world you would have been pretty rich with all those clams. Oh yes, I also loved the picture of Branson's sweet little feet.
