I don't think George Bush would be too happy with our family...all the money we spent in Canada was from our Stimulus Check. Somehow I don't think the idea was to boost Canada's economy.
Wednesday was so much FUN!
We took a 30 minute drive through beautiful forests and along Horne Lake. Our destination was Horne Caves. You could pay an arm and a leg and take a family tour in some of the upper caves but we choose the Do it Yourself caves...free of charge.
You are required to have at least two sources of light on you at all times. Pretty good logic. As soon as you step inside the caves you can't see your own hand in front of your face. We were dressed appropriately...long pants and sweatshirts, since the caves were cold and damp. We headed into the cave and for the first 10 feet you had to squeeze through an opening that was so tight you had to enter it sideways. John and I passed Branson through until we got to a larger opening. You really had to watch your head and feet at the same time. I was surprised. I am pretty claustrophobic...I HATE those cardboard box mazes the scouts make each Halloween, but this was too awesome an experience and it didn't even bother me.
The following pictures were all taken while we stood inside this larger opening discussing our options (meaning
Branson). It was so hard to take pictures! I couldn't even see what I was aiming at and as soon as the flash went off everyone was even more blinded by the light, as you can see by the size of
Branson's eyes.
I decided to head outside and let the others go on. Not only did I feel it a bit dangerous to try to wedge my baby through tight crevices, the cold, damp air seemed a bit much for him too.
Branson and I sat outside the cave and took pictures of the landscape.
Everyone came out of the cave filthy dirty. There was a lower cave and while John took Branson, Anderson and I explored the second cave. It was so neat and a bit scary too. You really had to climb some steep rock walls.Later that evening we went to Dairy Queen (it seemed like there were about 2 in every town) and miniature golfing.
Just TRY taking that golf club out of his hand...I dare you.
I was talking a picture of Sydney when someone got a hole in one.
It's a hit and run!
Purple Ball, Blue Eyes.

blog4ever!♥☺♥
I may have to get a birth certificate so I can go to Canada! It looks beautiful and relaxing. The memories you and your family have made will not soon be forgotten.
Looks like fun! I don't know if I could have done the cave thing. I got clausterphobic just reading about it.
I have been on cave tours before and they were pretty incredible, but I don't think we've ever done the do-it-yourself cave tour. Was there any chance of getting lost? I'm assuming not. I remember wedging through some tight spots as well. When I was a kid I loved those tight spots, but for some reason I'm afraid tight spots no longer interest me.
There sure were a lot of beautiful landscapes there in Canada.
Hi Iam matties friend Emma. do you want to become friends? Well I do so come to my blog.
Bye 4 now!♥☺
Such great pictures Amy J. I love the caves and those blue eyes of Branson.
You guys had so much fun for sure. That about cracked me up about the stimulus check. Hilarious. I am sure CA appreciates that.
We love caving too. Especially in the hot summer. It is so much cooler in caves. The golfing looked fun too.
Great times and the purple ball at the end.
ha! that picture of branson in the cave is so hilarious.
I love your pictures... You guys sure had a blast. The caves look fun but I don't know if I could do it. Yikes
The caves would be really scary for me to do. I don't like being claustrophobic at all. But what a fun thing to do with your family. I love the golfing pictures. Branson has some really pretty eyes.
I love all your pictures Amy! And I just keep looking at how long your hair is. Did it just grow over night or what?? The caves look like a lot of fun!
